The goal of the Dublin Jazz Book is to provide Dublin with a local collection of contemporary standards, and at the same time give international musicians some insight into the Dublin jazz scene at the present moment.

"They came out in good numbers to celebrate the launch of the Dublin Jazz Book at the BelloBar in the funky Portobello neighborhood of Dublin. The success of the evening went beyond numbers though, for the publishing of the DJB—essentially a Real Book of compositions by Dublin-based musicians—marks a potentially new chapter in the history of Dublin jazz, jazz in Ireland, and—whisper it quietly—jazz in a global context."

The compositions in the Dublin Jazz Book provide a sample of the work emerging from Dublin. It includes, side by side, the works of seasoned professionals and students, selected on an open-submission basis. Every composer who submitted at least one complete work is represented. Not all of the composers are from Dublin, or even Ireland, but they have all positively contributed to the musical culture of the city.

This project was imagined and created by Sam Kavanagh and Steven McNamara (ROJI).
